Erfurt is an attractive, history-rich city with 210,000 inhabitants. I chatted with Johanna on Erfurt’s Domplatz (Cathedral Square) while munching on a mustard-smothered bratwurst, a traditional Thuringian type of sausage whose heritage can be traced to the early 1400s.

Thuringia hosts the 2015 Germany Travel Mart
